Mass Black Implosion (de Kooning, Morton Feldman), 2015

A selection of scores by avant-garde composers are reproduced at 1:1 scale. A line is ruled from every original note to an arbitrarily chosen point as a proposition for a new composition, in which every note is played at once, as a moment of consolidation and singular impact.

Marco Fusinato has been exhibiting in galleries, performing and recording music since the 1990s. His recent solo exhibitions include The Color of the Sky Has Melted, Artspace, Sydney, and the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, 2012, and Mass Black Implosion (Treatise, Cornelius Cardew), Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, 2013. His work has been included in Sonic Youth etc. – Sensational Fix, The Museum of Malmo, Sweden, 2009, and CA2M, Madrid, Spain, and Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Germany, 2010; Parallel Collisions: 2012 Adelaide Biennale of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia; The Glasgow International Arts Festival, 2012; The Imminence of Poetics, 30th Sao Paulo Biennale, 2012; and Soundings: A Contemporary Score, Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2013. Fusinato also performs regularly in the international experimental music underground. He obliterates guitar/ electronics into improvised noise-spit tsunamis.
